Michels Construction Information

Drawer Construction:

  • Dovetailed drawer fronts.
  • E-Z gliding, steel ball bearing (12 per glide) drawer side glides on engraved laminate sets.
  • Wood center glides on wood sets.
  • Glides mounted in grooved side panels to add rigidity and greater inside drawer space.
  • Secured, tilt and drop positive drawer stops.  Less side wobble and no danger of drawer accidentally being pulled from case and dropped on hands and feet.
  • Hardboard drawer bottoms - greater strength and rigidity for longer lasting use.  Not made of pressed paper or cardboard.
  • Wood grained interiors.

Case Construction:

Case panels are constructed of MDF (medium density fiberboard) and Industrial Grade Fiberboard.

Benefits:

  • The top 1/8 ” is nearly the same consistency of solid hardwood.  When the surface is sanded, it is a nearly perfect flat surface that allows the engraved veneer (finish) to be applied with minimum air pockets.  This forms a tight bond between the surface and the veneer so the finish does not lift or peel.
  • MDF and Industrial Grade Particleboard provide a substrate for holding screws and fasteners in place.  The result is greater case strength and rigidity giving longer use and more value to the consumer.
  • All case backs feature “hardboard ” not cardboard construction.  The result, again, is added stability.
  • Spread headboards are reinforced with plywood to add strength and prevent cracking.

Mirrors:

  • 100% domestic, float plate glass.
  • A five step process on float glass that includes polishing, acid washing, two applications of silver backing and more polishing with heating between processes of up to 275 degrees.  This process produces a mirror free of distortions.

Finishing:

  • Michels utilizes the latest technology to offer a selection of finishes from bold and exciting high gloss lacquers and polyesters in the latest colors and textures to softer matte wood grain treatments.
  • Most of the finishes used are water and mar resistant and provide long lasting beauty for many years.

 

Michels Furniture Facts

 

 

  • EZ gliding steel ball bearing drawer guides that allow easy access, while having a positive safety stop and secured tilt and drop. They are installed in the cases and can only be removed by unscrewing the attachment screw in each drawer.
  • MADE IN THE USA.
  • Michels uses unique "panel and cleat" construction, which is glued, screwed, and inserted into a computer-generated groove that insures perfectly aligned cases.
  • All hardware is factory installed, and  the drawer pulls are placed on the outside of each drawer.
  • The glass and mirrors are cleaned prior to being placed in the in cartons.
  • Drawer fronts are fastened to sides via French dovetail construction.
  • Wood grain drawer interiors.
  • Hardboard drawer bottoms and case backs.
  • Full size mirror supports are included.
  • High quality laminates are used as well as wood accents are manufactured and finished in-house whenever the style dictates.
